Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Tomas Illescas started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Rigoberto Mina hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Célio Mangueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Célio Mangueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gonçalo Catarinense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Joinville Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Benê de Azevedo hit a great ball. Wellington Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wellington Montenegro saved Joinville Esporte Clube from getting behind. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Wellington Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gonçalo Catarinense was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 33rd minute. Joinville Esporte Clube's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 35 minutes into the match, Célio Mangueira notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A sloppy throw-in by Benê de Azevedo in the 38th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Venezuela's Jose Correa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 45th minute of play forced Joinville Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Wellington Montenegro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Célio Mangueira to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Joinville Esporte Clube's Flavinho Fantini got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wellington Montenegro having to interfere. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonçalo Catarinense in the 83rd minute of play. In the 87thth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Joinville Esporte Clube's Wellington Montenegro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wellington Montenegro having to interfere.
