The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 4th minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 92 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
