A sloppy throw-in by Guillermo Mariano in the 18th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Emerald's Grigore Stătescu. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Victor Piţurcă sent off a good shot on target. Venezuela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 28th minute, when Victor Piţurcă scored to the left of an out of position Jonathan Ferrant, making the score, 2-0. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Nichifor Nicolae didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Guillermo Mariano's late challenge caught a Emerald's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Guillermo Mariano helped the player get up and apologised. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The supporters of Emerald booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Victor Piţurcă took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. 59 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Piţurcă came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Nichifor Nicolae showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patricio Costa in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 74th minute of the game Guillermo Mariano made a throw-in which Tomas Illescas played forward. Tomas Illescas kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Victor Piţurcă made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Tomas Illescas hit a great ball. In the 90th match minute, Emerald was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hurşit Cemşit to maneuver through the defense.
