Adilson Coutinho's late challenge caught a Paraguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adilson Coutinho helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Jaru-Uaru's Danilo Paulista got a free kick in the 4th minute. When Hector Covarrubias came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Paraguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hector Covarrubias couldn't finish the play. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adilson Coutinho in the 9th minute of play. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adilson Coutinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Jacobo Nores made an important save on a dangerous shot by Válbson Rocha in the 32nd minute. Hector Covarrubias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luiz Fabiano Corrêa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Fabiano Corrêa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hector Covarrubias in the 47th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jaime Pardo to make the kick off. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Adilson Coutinho, made in the 52nd minute of the game. Primitivo Escribano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Fabiano Corrêa having to interfere. Luiz Fabiano Corrêa made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Jaime Pardo sent off a good shot on target. Válbson Rocha hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Adilson Coutinho made in the 64th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Válbson Rocha immediately put the ball in play. 68 minutes into the game, Adilson Coutinho threw the ball into play from the sideline. Paraguay's Xavier Zoido quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Danilo Paulista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Jaru-Uaru's Sérgio Pinheiro got a free kick in the 79th minute. Hector Covarrubias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 87th match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iker Tafalla to maneuver through the defense. In the 89th minute, Válbson Rocha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jacobo Nores was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Paraguay's attentive Ivan Prats managed to snatch the ball when Adilson Coutinho made a throw-in in the 94th minute of the game.
