Chivos de Punto Fijo's Dani Hernández played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 24th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julian Murillo in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dani Hernández prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ryszard Percha in the 30th minute of play. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ryszard Percha in the 44th minute of the match. In the 46th minute of the match Chivos de Punto Fijo got a corner. Peru's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Narciso Gombal ran over to the corner to take the kick.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Peru's Eliseo Mina got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cezary Makomaski made in the 59th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Filip Bochinski. In the 62nd minute of the match, Julian Murillo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dani Hernández saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 67 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dani Hernández narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The throw-in from Anders Ståhlman in the 70th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. When Adalberto Tejeda fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chivos de Punto Fijo's protests and gave Adalberto Tejeda a yellow card for diving instead. In the 72nd match minute, Chivos de Punto Fijo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adalberto Tejeda to maneuver through the defense.
