Evaristo Astigar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. One of Nueva Lepra FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Costa Rica:s goal. Nueva Lepra FC:s Gonzalo Guillelme showed great skill when he stopped Axel Tasis:s penalty. In the 7th minute, Juan Rubio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Edgardo Corderun in the 8th minute really tested Benito Sanz's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Ladislao Hibai managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nueva Lepra FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ladislao Hibai was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A hard shot 16 in the game by Eloy Dominic from a close distance when the talented Benito Sanz managed to make a qualified save. Costa Rica's players were relieved. Eloy Dominic received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alan Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Evaristo Astigar's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Evaristo Astigar helped the player get up and apologised. In the 29th match minute, Nueva Lepra FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Evaristo Astigar to maneuver through the defense. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Efrain Moruga fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Efrain Moruga a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Nueva Lepra FC booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efrain Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. 40 minutes into the match, Nueva Lepra FC's Ladislao Hibai sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benito Sanz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 42nd minute Axel Tasis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gonzalo Guillelme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 45 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Juan Rubio. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ladislao Hibai was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Nueva Lepra FC booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efrain Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Nueva Lepra FC's Ladislao Hibai in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evaristo Astigar in the 68th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ladislao Hibai in the 72nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evaristo Astigar in the 74th minute of play. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eloy Dominic in the 77th minute of play. After 82 minutes, Juan Rubio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Nueva Lepra FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Juan Rubio kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ladislao Hibai in the 87th minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Ladislao Hibai came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ladislao Hibai received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nueva Lepra FC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
