Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Sebastian Lope hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Epifanio Demesio, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 16 minutes, Gualterio Faron managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Antonio Vespucio Liberti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gualterio Faron was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Epifanio Demesio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gualterio Faron's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 21stth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Epifanio Demesio's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Antonio Vespucio Liberti's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gualterio Faron in the 24th minute. Julio Vera was out of position in the 29 minute of play, and Epifanio Demesio capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Epifanio Demesio really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Antonio Vespucio Liberti's Elpidio Txomin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 35th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 36th minute of play forced Antonio Vespucio Liberti's goalkeeper Elpidio Txomin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Epifanio Demesio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antonio Vespucio Liberti's Gualterio Faron got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Epifanio Demesio to make the kick off. Gualterio Faron sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gualterio Faron in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Antonio Vespucio Liberti's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elpidio Txomin came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 57 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Epifanio Demesio came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After taking down the ball on Antonio Vespucio Liberti's corner Gualterio Faron fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rafael Quinten in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Gualterio Faron received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 64 minutes into the match, Antonio Vespucio Liberti's goalkeeper Elpidio Txomin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gualterio Faron in the 66th minute of play. 71 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Antonio Vespucio Liberti's Elpidio Txomin. Elpidio Txomin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 77 minutes into the game, Agustín Saelices cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Elpidio Txomin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gualterio Faron, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Antonio Arias got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Antonio Vespucio Liberti's Sander Korsma was substituted for Gualterio Faron. 86 minutes into the match, Antonio Vespucio Liberti's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Elpidio Txomin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rafael Quinten hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alfredo Kelemen during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
