In the 37th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 39 minutes into the match, Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Colas Valdueza. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Pablo Innocenzio took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Marcos Cotilla to make any attempt to save it. If Isidoro Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Colas Valdueza to strike the kick off in the second half.
