An unexpectedly hard shot by Bela Herrero in the 12th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Venezuela's attentive Patricio Costa managed to snatch the ball when Shabeb Al Dowaisan made a throw-in in the 17th minute of the game. In the 18th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gianluigi Donnarumma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 28 minutes into the game, Tomas Illescas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Gianluigi Donnarumma was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paul Raoult got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A long shot from Shabeb Al Dowaisan in the 38th minute of play was well struck, but Jonathan Ferrant made a really good save at the right post. In the 39th minute, Paul Raoult got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Cipriano Ganix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Paul Raoult tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paul Raoult in the 47th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paul Raoult in the 73rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Guillermo Mariano got a free kick in the 76th minute. In the 77th minute of the match Honorio Carceles sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant skillfully saved the ball. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paul Raoult, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Tomas Illescas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gianluigi Donnarumma. That made the score 2-3 in the 90 minute of play. After 94 minutes of play, PERSPOLIS's Paul Raoult made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! PERSPOLIS were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
