After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Rodrigo Bautista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. In the 14th minute, one of Costa Rica:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Costa Rica. Benito Sanz had in the 15thth minute some difficulties stopping Marcelo Domiku's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Marcelo Domiku scored 2-0 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Rodrigo Bautista blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodrigo Bautista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th minute of the match Costa Rica got a corner. Palermo AFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Axel Tasis ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Axel Tasis got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Primitivo Jeraldo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Rodrigo Bautista might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodrigo Bautista ran back to his position shaking his head. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Efrain Moruga hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. But to his dismay, Qiao Kang Zhen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After 43 played minutes Rodrigo Bautista rounded Costa Rica's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 4-0. 46 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Bautista came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.
