Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Axel Tasis started the match with the kick off. Tobias Zachrisson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. After 4 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Noboa. In the 8th minute, Inter de Melão's Delfim Paraense ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Delfim Paraense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 17 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Abel Carballo. Fabinho Valladares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. After 22 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Alcocer. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Fabinho Valladares sent off a good shot on target. Eliseo Noboa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Claudio-Paul Taffarel having to make a save. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute, Maurinho Vergílio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 37th minute of the match Axel Tasis shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Claudio-Paul Taffarel showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Tobias Zachrisson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. 40 minutes into the match, Fabinho Valladares dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Delfim Paraense stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Axel Tasis in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Claudio-Paul Taffarel saved Inter de Melão from getting behind. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Delfim Paraense went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. After 60 minutes of play, Inter de Melão's Delfim Paraense made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 67 minutes, Abel Carballo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Inter de Melão players grew even worse after the yellow card. Abel Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Ernesto Farias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Carballo to maneuver through the defense. Tobias Zachrisson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Costa Rica were furious when Alexander Carballo was red carded, 76 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Alexander Carballo hit a great ball. 80 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Delfim Paraense came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delfim Paraense in the 82nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Acácio Pernambucano in the 85th minute of play.
