The audience was convinced that Christian Bergqvist's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Eloy Mazuste in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 59 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Stanislaw Hyska came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th minute, Luis Andino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eloy Mazuste was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. After 63rd play minutes Felix Montenegro shot 3-3, a short shot which went by Eloy Mazuste and just under the crossbar into goal. The Julio Vera was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christian Bergqvist in the 91st minute of the match.
