The Karen FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ma Yong Jun should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Arvin Svanberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Karen FC:s goal. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arvin Svanberg in the 87th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 88 minutes into the game, Bon Guidetti was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Karen FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick.
