Ahmet Haşim Tekmil's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ahmet Haşim Tekmil helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ecuador booed when KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet Haşim Tekmil didn't get a good kick on the ball. KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's Gustaw Fafinski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 6th minute of play. Gustaw Fafinski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustaw Fafinski came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 16th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gianluca Scamacca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stig Rødal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a free kick in the 30th minute. Gustaw Fafinski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 32nd minute of play. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Gustaw Fafinski despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 36th minute of play forced KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's goalkeeper Gustaw Fafinski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Stig Rødal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Agustín Saelices fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Agustín Saelices a yellow card for diving instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Gustaw Fafinski came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 56th minute, Daniel Zorita fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. When KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's Gianluca Scamacca in the 66th minute got a chance for a shot 66th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Gustaw Fafinski in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 70 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Andino. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gianluca Scamacca in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gustaw Fafinski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 78th minute. 80 minutes into the match, KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's goalkeeper Gustaw Fafinski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gianluca Scamacca in the 85th minute of play. Gustaw Fafinski didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Slawomir Wojciechowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's Claudio Sozzi got a free kick in the 91st minute. 93 minutes into the match, KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A's goalkeeper Gustaw Fafinski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. After having played for 94 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gustaw Fafinski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 96th minute of play. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than KS Lechia Gdańsk S.A.
