Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Will Alderson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Eugen Remus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 15 minutes into the game, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eugen Remus made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 18th minute, Lautaro Mancebo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eugen Remus was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. 21 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Almiron came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Will Alderson. In the 24th minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugen Remus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eugen Remus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 26th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eugen Remus made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. A collision led to Greenbay getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Mato Špišić hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 37th minute of play forced Greenbay's goalkeeper Eugen Remus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th match minute, Greenbay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rupert Alsop to maneuver through the defense. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joel Gaona made a kick off. In the 51st minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugen Remus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joel Gaona in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eugen Remus prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 55 minutes, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Gaona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Eugen Remus made a huge save. Through an outstanding action, after 61 minutes, Eugen Remus successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Tyler Morton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Dante Lacasa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Greenbay's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. A very nice done corner allowed Facundo Cadaval to score against Eugen Remus in Greenbay's goal. 1-5 after 68 minutes. Lu Wagner hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Alberto Tafalla struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Eugen Remus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Lu Wagner kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. After 83 minutes, Alberto Tafalla mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mexico and the Greenbay players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alberto Tafalla hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Greenbay's Miguel Almiron got a free kick in the 85th minute. If Luca Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Mexico could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Greenbay throughout the match.
