In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind KFC Uerdingen 05's goalkeeper Radenko Mayer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 14th minute, Alois Fontagnier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Karsten Illgner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cayetano Esdras having to interfere. After some careless play in the De Boedo Vengo defense, Karsten Illgner kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cayetano Esdras. The De Boedo Vengo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cayetano Esdras should have stopped the shot. Cayetano Esdras made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karsten Illgner in the 38th minute of play. KFC Uerdingen 05's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Nicolas Anelka in the 40th minute. In the 41st minute, Victoriano Ibañez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adan Lorien was the one to do the kick off. Cayetano Esdras took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ratko Leibold, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 64th minute, Kai Laakmann made a precise shot to the right of Cayetano Esdras. De Boedo Vengo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. After 67 played minutes KFC Uerdingen 05 got a freekick which was hit by Gregor Reinauer. Lázaro Turi fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 69th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. Santo Patrido charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Santo Patrido the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 71 played minutes De Boedo Vengo got a freekick which was hit by Santo Patrido. The supporters of De Boedo Vengo booed when KFC Uerdingen 05 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karsten Illgner didn't get a good kick on the ball. 82 minutes into the match, Karsten Illgner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cayetano Esdras. De Boedo Vengo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Karsten Illgner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. If Alois Fontagnier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to KFC Uerdingen 05 getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Joseph Hussen hit a great ball. KFC Uerdingen 05's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
