Nelson Xavier helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Nelson Xavier hit a great ball. 26 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Maximino Aznaro came free, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Antônio Carlos Cavalcante had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Filomeno Pio. 45 minutes into the game, Jaime Ekhi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Amboy FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palestra do Interior the free kick. A collision led to Amboy FC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Jaime Ekhi hit a great ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Serafim Simão received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Severiano Santo came out and tried to block the shot, but Serafim Simão slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 60th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Filomeno Pio in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Antônio Carlos Cavalcante saved Palestra do Interior from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximino Aznaro in the 65th minute of play forced Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Antônio Carlos Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Palestra do Interior's Delfim Quintal was substituted for David Vale. Palestra do Interior's Dinei Brito was substituted for Ronaldo Pirani. The referee gave Palestra do Interior a penalty, 71 minutes into the game. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when Amboy FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joaquin Ipar didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Delfim Quintal in the 92nd minute really tested Severiano Santo's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Palestra do Interior walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
