A collision led to Sportivo Mela Banco getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Rodolfo Lain hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcial Ticho saved Sportivo Mela Banco from getting behind. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcial Ticho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Marcial Ticho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Sebastián Puig in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Antonio Arias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carlos Sendoa in the 21st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Sendoa got free with Julio Vera in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 27 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlos Sendoa. After a rather tough play, Sportivo Mela Banco's Evelio Enaut got a free kick in the 30th minute. Marcial Ticho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 31st minute of play. 35 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sportivo Mela Banco's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Felix Montes got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Marcial Ticho quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Zeledon Ilazki kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 38th minute, Cristian Sancho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 41st minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sportivo Mela Banco's goalkeeper Marcial Ticho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 46th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcial Ticho was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Sportivo Mela Banco's goalkeeper Marcial Ticho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 55th minute, Zeledon Ilazki hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 57 minutes, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agustín Saelices was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcial Ticho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 64th minute. A nice corner shot did that Agustín Saelices got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Marcial Ticho quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Sportivo Mela Banco's goalie and right to Felix Montes. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Sportivo Mela Banco's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 69 minutes into the match, Sportivo Mela Banco's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montes came free, but Marcial Ticho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcial Ticho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 72nd minute of the match. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Marcial Ticho made a huge save. 82 minutes into the match, Sportivo Mela Banco's goalkeeper Marcial Ticho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Marcial Ticho made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 93rd minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Marcial Ticho. Sportivo Mela Banco's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3.
