Ümit Karan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Leo Dauwen made a huge save. Brugge United were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after Bacardi FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jaspar Van Den Broeck took the corner. After taking down the ball on Brugge United's corner Laurențiu Roşculeţ fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Leo Dauwen quite easily take care of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Brugge United's Sandro Gaúcho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Leo Dauwen. That made the score 3-0 after 22 minutes of play. 25 minutes into the match, Arnoud Van Gestel notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Brugge United's Vítor Baia. Vítor Baia was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ümit Karan's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Leo Dauwen firmly grabbed it by the left post. With an all-out effort, Brugge United's Leo Dauwen threw himself towards the right post 47 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Arnauld Van Impe, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 6-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Guido Vissenaeken to make the kick off. In the 81st minute, Waldemar Custódio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 84 minutes in the game, Sandro Gaúcho dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sandro Gaúcho in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leo Dauwen saved Bacardi FC from getting behind. 86 minutes into the match, Brugge United's goal looked a bit too open when Roni Coryn came free, but Vítor Baia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
