Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's Lucrețiu Sfetcu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donleavy Barrett in the 12th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Basarab Panduru got free with Ter Stegen in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ter Stegen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basarab Panduru in the 18th minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Basarab Panduru ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ter Stegen was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 37 minutes into the match, 1948 MKS's goal looked a bit too open when Valer Perișoară came free, but Ter Stegen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute Baoithin Doherty shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucrețiu Sfetcu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Basarab Birișu hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Donleavy Barrett blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lucrețiu Sfetcu having to make a save.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Basarab Panduru to strike the kick off in the second half. Ter Stegen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Horia Chioreanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 94 minutes, Lucrețiu Sfetcu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 95th minute Eric Gorcea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ter Stegen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of 1948 MKS for a fine match.
