The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Peter Mpenza kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Gustavo Guimarães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Peter Mpenza in the 9th minute of play. Peter Mpenza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gustavo Guimarães read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. In the 12th minute Canarinho Atordoado were awarded a corner. Peter Mpenza went to the cornerflag to take it. After a defensive mix-up in Canarinho Atordoado's zone, Miguel Gallegos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dé Mello came out of the goal and Miguel Gallegos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Águila's Manuel Reyes got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Gustavo Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Peter Mpenza in the 26th minute of the match. Club Deportivo Águila's Gustavo Guimarães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tuncer İlbaşı in the 27th minute of play. Canarinho Atordoado's Peter Mpenza was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gustavo Guimarães in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Ricky Koppens hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Dé Mello made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Dário Diniz sent off a good shot on target. Dário Diniz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Dé Mello made a huge save. Anísio Queirós hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Canarinho Atordoado's Dé Mello proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Canarinho Atordoado from getting a goal against them. Miguel Gallegos came free with the goalkeeper in the 47th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dé Mello could save by the left post. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Dé Mello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herminio Florinio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Canarinho Atordoado defense, Herminio Florinio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dé Mello. The Canarinho Atordoado fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dé Mello should have stopped the shot. In the 57th minute Ricky Koppens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dé Mello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Canarinho Atordoado's Dé Mello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Gallegos in the 59th minute of play. Dé Mello didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Club Deportivo Águila's Dário Diniz shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-0 in the ordered_time% minute. The supporters of Canarinho Atordoado booed when Club Deportivo Águila was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Canarinho Atordoado's Luiz Leo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ramon Gomez, made in the 89th minute of the game. Saul Alas hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. 91 minutes into the match, Canarinho Atordoado's Peter Mpenza broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Dé Mello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Viscarra, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. After some careless play in the Canarinho Atordoado defense, Ivan Viscarra kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dé Mello. The Canarinho Atordoado fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dé Mello should have stopped the shot. For all the effort they put into the match, the Canarinho Atordoado players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Club Deportivo Águila.
