Sebastián Junes had great luck who in the 45thth minute grab hold of the ball when Gualterio Aguirre from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. After 46 played minutes Deportivo Rodriguez got a freekick which was hit by Rúben Verdun. Deportivo Rodriguez's Amadeo Roma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ted Ambjörnsson in the 47th minute of play. The Deportivo Rodriguez players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Celtic FC were winning 0-1.

Sebastián Junes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valentim Leão, who was totally free with the ball in the 50th minute.
