Edson Futebol Clube's Paul Christini played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonard Aanuţei in the 19th minute of play. Ernesto Fontes came free with the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Gheorghe Baldovin could save by the left post. 24 minutes into the match, FC Buzău's goalkeeper Gheorghe Baldovin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Panos Karkantos. Emil Strugure recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paul Christini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Traian Balaban, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. After having played for 35 minutes, Heleno de Freitas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Edson Futebol Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Heleno de Freitas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 39th minute of the match, Lucas Hulk tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gheorghe Baldovin saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 41 played minutes FC Buzău got a freekick which was hit by Cătălin Arjoca. Gheorghe Baldovin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Panos Karkantos, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
