Luc Van Hinnendael made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enio Palmeira in the 11th minute of play. With 13 minutes on the clock, Shane Corrigan commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 14th minute, Enio Palmeira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luc Van Hinnendael was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Tony Tinoco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fabrício Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 23rd minute Ken Brogren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vânderson Botelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Bruges's Luc Van Hinnendael played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zhuo Cheng Xiang in the 26th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Carl Van Kamp ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vânderson Botelho was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. 45 minutes into the match, Carl Van Kamp had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vânderson Botelho. Pereiras FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carl Van Kamp was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
