Manuel Loren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mac Mon in the 17th minute of the match. Luc Van Hinnendael made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when João Carlos Porto sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, FC Bruges's Carl Van Kamp got a free kick in the 21st minute. 30 minutes into the match, FC Bruges's goalkeeper Luc Van Hinnendael had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Raúl Noriega. FC Bruges's Luc Van Hinnendael played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raúl Noriega in the 32nd minute of play. Luc Van Hinnendael stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of João Carlos Porto's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Carlos Porto to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Raúl Noriega ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luc Van Hinnendael was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. FC Bruges's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Raúl Noriega was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Xavies Muñagorri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Manuel Loren made a huge save. In the 82nd minute João Carlos Porto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luc Van Hinnendael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 86th minute, FC Bruges's Xavies Muñagorri ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Manuel Loren. Manuel Loren yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-2. Manuel Loren made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carl Van Kamp in the 89th minute. In the 91st minute Carl Van Kamp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Loren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of FC Bruges booed when Volvio Moreno was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raúl Noriega didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 93rd minute, Raúl Noriega made a precise shot to the right of Luc Van Hinnendael. FC Bruges's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Volvio Moreno's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
