Nicolas Roland might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tolek Kiszkiel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nicolas Roland ran back to his position shaking his head. Nicolas Roland could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Tolek Kiszkiel made a huge save. Tolek Kiszkiel made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Cristian Naike sent off a good shot on target. Tolek Kiszkiel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolas Roland, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. With a little luck, Olimpia HSB's Tolek Kiszkiel got control of the ball when Cristian Naike tried to sneak it across the goal line. Olimpia HSB's Tolek Kiszkiel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Roland in the 20th minute of play. Elpidio Vitin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabian Czeszejko in the 22nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Vélez Juniors's zone, Fernando Morientes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elpidio Vitin came out of the goal and Fernando Morientes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The throw-in from Melchor Napier in the 26th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Olimpia HSB's Nikola Mirotić. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabian Czeszejko in the 27th minute of play forced Vélez Juniors's goalkeeper Elpidio Vitin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elpidio Vitin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fabian Czeszejko's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Vélez Juniors's Nicolas Roland slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tolek Kiszkiel. That made the score 2-0 after 32 minutes of play. Severo Maule hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. 38 minutes into the match, Fabian Czeszejko notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Vélez Juniors's Elpidio Vitin. Elpidio Vitin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tolek Kiszkiel came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Vélez Juniors's Nicolas Roland. But to his dismay, Nicolas Roland quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. 43 minutes into the match, Olimpia HSB's Fabian Czeszejko sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Elpidio Vitin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 45th minute, Fabian Czeszejko left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Olimpia HSB fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabian Czeszejko made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Olimpia HSB's goal looked a bit too open when Severo Maule came free, but Tolek Kiszkiel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vélez Juniors's Elpidio Vitin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Vélez Juniors from getting a goal against them. In the 54th minute, Santos Fonda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vélez Juniors's goalkeeper Elpidio Vitin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Vélez Juniors's Nicolas Roland in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
