The supporters of Hertha 1969 booed when Paralia Athens was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonard Chirculescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Virgil Olariu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 9th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Gigel Elenescu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Virgil Olariu was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Unai Herrera got free with Rune Jarstein in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Wilhelm Nienhaus put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Virgil Olariu. Virgil Olariu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. 27 minutes into the match, Paralia Athens's goal looked a bit too open when Kristian Oswald came free, but Virgil Olariu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Paralia Athens's Vasile Enciulescu got a free kick in the 31st minute. Virgil Olariu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kristian Oswald in the 34th minute of the match. Unai Herrera could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Rune Jarstein made a huge save. Paralia Athens's Virgil Olariu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 39th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Hertha 1969's zone, Unai Herrera stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rune Jarstein came out of the goal and Unai Herrera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Wilhelm Nienhaus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Virgil Olariu was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. Virgil Olariu came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Hertha 1969's Wilhelm Nienhaus. But to his dismay, Wilhelm Nienhaus quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-6 lead.

In the 51st minute, Zé Paulo da Silva ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Virgil Olariu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-7. Zé Paulo da Silva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Virgil Olariu made a huge save. 54 minutes into the match, Wilhelm Nienhaus dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Virgil Olariu, 0-8. In the 57th minute Kristian Oswald shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgil Olariu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, Hertha 1969's Virgil Olariu threw himself towards the right post 58 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gigel Elenescu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
