The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rene Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Radamel Oakley in the 5th minute of the match. Radamel Oakley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rene Higuita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. Club Ibiza's Rene Higuita proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Club Ibiza from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 25 minutes, Rene Higuita successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Mark Brovall made in the 29th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Vincent Benett however managed to control. An unexpectedly hard shot by Radamel Oakley in the 36th minute of play forced Club Ibiza's goalkeeper Rene Higuita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th match minute, Club Ibiza was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Usuriaga to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th minute Bruno Fonso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Lindström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Surahammar's Radamel Oakley got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bruno Fonso was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Bruno Fonso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Lindström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Radamel Oakley took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rene Higuita. Rene Higuita dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Club Ibiza made a substitution. Surahammar were awarded a corner in the 73th minute after Club Ibiza's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Xiao Yan Jian took the corner. Surahammar's Xiao Yan Jian was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Rene Higuita in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Surahammar's Jan Lindström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Surahammar from getting a goal against them. Jan Lindström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Beliran Poblaciones in the 81st minute of play. Surahammar's Jan Lindström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beliran Poblaciones in the 83rd minute of play. Virgil Van Dijk charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Virgil Van Dijk the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 90th match minute, Surahammar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgil Van Dijk to maneuver through the defense. 91 minutes into the match, Surahammar's goalkeeper Jan Lindström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Loco Mønster. Club Ibiza's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
