Tomé Mota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 汪常然, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 24 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Marco George sped through Agua Santa's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tomé Mota. 28 minutes into the match, Agua Santa's goal looked a bit too open when Marcial Eztebe came free, but Tomé Mota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Şenol Güneş showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Rosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After 36 minutes LOS MENTI's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Eugênio Monteiro who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Eugênio Monteiro got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Şenol Güneş quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Dedê Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Şenol Güneş tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Frank Rosa to make the kick off. Tomé Mota made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcial Eztebe in the 54th minute of play. Tomé Mota made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Marco George sent off a good shot on target.
