Stavros Bantis made in the 3rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Heitor Ferreira. In the 7th minute, Laércio Penha made a precise shot to the right of Eskil Vester. October 04's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. October 04's Eskil Vester played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laércio Penha in the 10th minute of play. Laércio Penha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eskil Vester having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in October 04's zone, Laércio Penha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eskil Vester came out of the goal and Laércio Penha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eskil Vester took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laércio Penha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the October 04 defense, Laércio Penha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eskil Vester. The October 04 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eskil Vester should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Laércio Penha's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eskil Vester was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Emilio Cascajares during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Zézinho Veloso hit a great ball. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Laércio Penha got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Laércio Penha to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Laércio Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eskil Vester saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 54 minutes, Emilio Cascajares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. October 04's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emilio Cascajares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Penha in the 56th minute of play forced October 04's goalkeeper Eskil Vester to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mickaël Maris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aníbal Correia, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Luiz Fábio de Medeiros got a free kick in the 59th minute. Laércio Penha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Eskil Vester tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. October 04's Luís Paulo Pernambucano was substituted for Luís Fabiano Gaspar. October 04 made a substitution. Fellipe Valle replaced Emilio Cascajares. October 04's Waldemar de Sena was substituted for Claudinei Custódio. Eskil Vester showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laércio Penha in the 70th minute of the match. Laércio Penha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eskil Vester having to make a save. With a little luck, October 04's Eskil Vester got control of the ball when Laércio Penha tried to sneak it across the goal line. 80 minutes into the game, Harvey Elliott threw the ball into play from the sideline. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Luiz Fábio de Medeiros quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Laércio Penha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Nova Iguaçu MZFC booed when October 04 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fellipe Valle didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Penha in the 83rd minute of play forced October 04's goalkeeper Eskil Vester to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Harvey Elliott kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. In the 90th minute of the match, Laércio Penha tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Eskil Vester saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fellipe Valle in the 94th minute of play. The October 04 supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Nova Iguaçu MZFC's performance. The match ended with a win for Nova Iguaçu MZFC.
