The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Runa United getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Joel Andreasson hit a great ball. In the 9th minute Ted Almstedt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dacian Iurea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jörgen Lundström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Dacian Iurea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dacian Iurea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bo Eriksson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 18 minutes, Harry Boumans made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. FC Berea's Dacian Iurea tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bo Eriksson in the 21st minute of play forced FC Berea's goalkeeper Dacian Iurea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Runa United booed when FC Berea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eric Dărmănescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Runa United were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Nils-Erik Åhlberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Berea Luca, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Runa United's Tage Deckbergh was substituted for Ted Almstedt. FC Berea's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Rodion Cămătaru in the 63rd minute. The supporters of Runa United booed when FC Berea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Hâldan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute, Tage Deckbergh ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dacian Iurea was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. FC Berea's Dacian Iurea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save FC Berea from getting a goal against them. Nils-Erik Åhlberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodion Cămătaru in the 73rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the FC Berea defense, Tage Deckbergh kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dacian Iurea. The FC Berea fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dacian Iurea should have stopped the shot. Eric Dărmănescu's late challenge caught a Runa United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eric Dărmănescu helped the player get up and apologised. After 79 played minutes FC Berea got a freekick which was hit by Eric Dărmănescu. 86 minutes into the game, Berea Matei was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Berea's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Runa United the free kick. In the 86th minute, Berea Matei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 87 minutes into the match, Tage Deckbergh notched a goal, 1-6, to the right of FC Berea's Dacian Iurea. Dacian Iurea was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 95th minute, Tage Deckbergh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Runa United played a much better game than FC Berea and deserved their victory. The FC Berea players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
