In the 35th minute of the game, Florencio Ponc landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Anios Karaoulanis charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anios Karaoulanis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 37th minute, Anios Karaoulanis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joop Hollandts in the 40th minute of play forced Estudiantes de La Plata's goalkeeper Mário Súľovský to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Florentino Rodas's late challenge caught a Limburg United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Florentino Rodas helped the player get up and apologised. Limburg United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joop Hollandts was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 88 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de La Plata's goalkeeper Mário Súľovský had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jason Jonckers. In the 93rd minute, Jason Jonckers reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Mário Súľovský. The goal made the score 2-2. Estudiantes de La Plata were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Limburg United to leave the ground with a draw.
