Independiente's Farid Mondragón played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Philipp Van Emelen in the 23rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Kerry Sellers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but De-la-Cruz de Alcântara was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. The attack was good, but when Kerry Sellers in the 25th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Sidney Forbes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The wind increased when Xu Yun Quan made the kick off in the second half. Ryszard Prusinowski hit a great ball. de belletrekkers's Paulus Van Hove got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. C. A. Independiente made a substitution. Alfredo Felder replaced Sidney Forbes. De-la-Cruz de Alcântara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudio Marangoni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. De-la-Cruz de Alcântara came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by C. A. Independiente's Claudio Marangoni. But to his dismay, Claudio Marangoni quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. In the 86th minute Kerry Sellers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but De-la-Cruz de Alcântara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. De-la-Cruz de Alcântara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kerry Sellers's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. 90 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Paulus Van Hove came free, but Farid Mondragón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Farid Mondragón showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulus Van Hove in the 94th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulus Van Hove in the 96th minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Farid Mondragón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The C. A. Independiente support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
