After 17 minutes, Iago Bala mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the America Futebol Clube SP and the C. A. Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of C. A. Independiente booed when America Futebol Clube SP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iago Bala didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stefan Rasiak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xu Yun Quan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iago Bala in the 21st minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Farid Mondragón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 22 minutes C. A. Independiente's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dreas Jamieson who took care of the corner kick. Iago Bala was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 24 minutes into the game, Iago Bala cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Farid Mondragón was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 27 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Farid Mondragón had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Iago Bala. In the 42nd minute, America Futebol Clube SP's Iago Bala ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Farid Mondragón. Farid Mondragón yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

America Futebol Clube SP made a substitution. José Paulo Koehler replaced Dreas Jamieson. Stefan Rasiak made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sidney Forbes in the 52nd minute. After taking down the ball on America Futebol Clube SP's corner José Paulo Koehler fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Farid Mondragón quite easily take care of the ball. Jeronimo Rico's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Farid Mondragón read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. America Futebol Clube SP's Stefan Rasiak proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save America Futebol Clube SP from getting a goal against them. 68 minutes had been played when some careless play by C. A. Independiente's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Maksymilian Sobczak was slow to take the kick. During this time America Futebol Clube SP's players had a chance to rest. Erberk Müftüoğlu hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. In the 71st minute Jeronimo Rico shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Farid Mondragón saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Farid Mondragón didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jeronimo Rico went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Stefan Rasiak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kerry Sellers, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. A sloppy throw-in by Erberk Müftüoğlu in the 78th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by America Futebol Clube SP's Maksymilian Sobczak. C. A. Independiente's Alfredo Felder was substituted for Sidney Forbes. Erberk Müftüoğlu made in the 83rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Kerry Sellers. Arthur Laguna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Farid Mondragón having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, America Futebol Clube SP's goal looked a bit too open when Xu Yun Quan came free, but Stefan Rasiak reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kerry Sellers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Stefan Rasiak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Arthur Laguna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeronimo Rico in the 97th minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Farid Mondragón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. C. A. Independiente's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
