Herbert Hilhorst came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by 17 de enero team's Joel Gamus. But to his dismay, Joel Gamus quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Herbert Hilhorst took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gamus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 9thth minute of the game Ruud Geels who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but 17 de enero team's Zoran Simović was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Verwachting's attentive Adriaan Kuypers managed to snatch the ball when Keke Almeida made a throw-in in the 13th minute of the game. After 14 minutes of play, 17 de enero team's Isidoro Isidor made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Herbert Hilhorst was left in no man's land by his defense there! 17 minutes into the match, Verwachting's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gamus came free, but Herbert Hilhorst reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Victoriano Iratzeder's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herbert Hilhorst was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Herbert Hilhorst showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gamus, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Christijan Schreuder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Zoran Simović tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Verwachting's Zoran Simović threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Twan Hesseling, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ruud Geels's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 36thth minute, Zoran Simović skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 40th minute, Ruud Geels hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of 17 de enero team booed when Verwachting was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harm de Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Christijan Schreuder stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 17 de enero team's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Den Barraclough in the 55th minute. After taking down the ball on 17 de enero team's corner Victoriano Iratzeder fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Herbert Hilhorst quite easily take care of the ball. In the 62nd play minute Victoriano Iratzeder came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Herbert Hilhorst. 1-3. In the 66th minute, Adriaan Kuypers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Verwachting's zone, Isidoro Isidor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Herbert Hilhorst came out of the goal and Isidoro Isidor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Verwachting's Harm de Freitas got a free kick in the 74th minute. After 75 played minutes, 17 de enero team's Den Barraclough shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Herbert Hilhorst came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in 17 de enero team reached it. In the 76th match minute, Verwachting was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adriaan Kuypers to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute Joel Gamus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herbert Hilhorst saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Gamus's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Herbert Hilhorst firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Victoriano Iratzeder put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Herbert Hilhorst. 84 minutes into the match, 17 de enero team's goal looked a bit too open when Christijan Schreuder came free, but Zoran Simović reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 87 minutes, Basarab Ipate mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 17 de enero team and the Verwachting players grew even worse after the yellow card. Verwachting made a substitution. Auke Oldenbeuving replaced Ruud Geels. Zoran Simović showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adriaan Kuypers in the 90th minute of the match.
