Paul Irod struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Cãlin Damaschin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for F.C.BARLAD. Cãlin Damaschin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nichifor Codruț in the 23rd minute. Nichifor Codruț made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 24thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Cãlin Damaschin would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis in the 30th minute of play forced F.C.BARLAD's goalkeeper Wojtek Szczęsny to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. CERRO PORTEÑO's Cãlin Damaschin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Braulio Castel in the 31st minute of play. 任棋振 blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wojtek Szczęsny having to make a save. In the 41st minute Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wojtek Szczęsny saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 44 played minutes F.C.BARLAD got a freekick which was hit by Dumitru Surdu. After having played for 45 minutes, Paulo Maldini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CERRO PORTEÑO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Maldini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 47 minutes into the match, F.C.BARLAD's goal looked a bit too open when Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis came free, but Wojtek Szczęsny reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 56th minute, Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis made a precise shot to the right of Wojtek Szczęsny. F.C.BARLAD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Wojtek Szczęsny made an important save on a dangerous shot by Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis in the 59th minute. CERRO PORTEÑO's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 81 minutes into the match, CERRO PORTEÑO's Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wojtek Szczęsny narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 84 minutes into the match, CERRO PORTEÑO's goal looked a bit too open when Braulio Castel came free, but Cãlin Damaschin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Wojtek Szczęsny to make any attempt to save it. A sloppy throw-in by Ernest Zburlea in the 89th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by CERRO PORTEÑO's Abel Velasco. CERRO PORTEÑO's Abel Velasco quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ernest Zburlea, made in the 90th minute of the game. Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Wojtek Szczęsny came out and tried to block the shot, but Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis slotted it home off the left post making it 1-5 in the 91st minute. Wojtek Szczęsny made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis sent off a good shot on target. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched CERRO PORTEÑO eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
