The corner led Vc Brye's Comunardo Cianci to fire away a dangerous shot which Cãlin Damaschin despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Cãlin Damaschin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Vieri in the 12th minute of play. Gabríel Vassaras spun around in front of the goal 17 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of CERRO PORTEÑO's goal. In the 19th minute, Alan Paredes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 22nd minute Ştefan Stoica shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cãlin Damaschin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cãlin Damaschin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabríel Vassaras, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cãlin Damaschin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ştefan Stoica, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. After 28 minutes CERRO PORTEÑO's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Comunardo Cianci who took care of the corner kick. Vc Brye's Comunardo Cianci was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cãlin Damaschin in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Henri-Patrick De Mare read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Vc Brye's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Paulo Maldini was slow to take the kick. During this time CERRO PORTEÑO's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on CERRO PORTEÑO's corner Paulo Maldini fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Henri-Patrick De Mare quite easily take care of the ball. 35 minutes into the game, Comunardo Cianci threw the ball into play from the sideline. CERRO PORTEÑO's Simon Gerbault quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Cãlin Damaschin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Vieri in the 37th minute of play. 46 minutes into the match, CERRO PORTEÑO's goal looked a bit too open when Ştefan Stoica came free, but Cãlin Damaschin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 48 minutes into the match, Vc Brye's goalkeeper Henri-Patrick De Mare had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gabríel Vassaras was the one to do the kick off. CERRO PORTEÑO's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Comunardo Cianci ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Comunardo Cianci got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Cãlin Damaschin quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Vc Brye's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Comunardo Cianci in the 97th minute. Comunardo Cianci made a great header on Vc Brye's corner, it was just that CERRO PORTEÑO's Cãlin Damaschin managed to reach the ball for a save. The CERRO PORTEÑO fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Vc Brye were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
