Tomáš Požgaj's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacinto Cuadrado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. In the 9th minute Tomáš Požgaj shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Cuadrado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 11 minutes, Štefan Semeno successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 14thth minute of the game Tomáš Požgaj who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Boca Juniors's Jacinto Cuadrado was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 18 minutes into the game, Boca Juniors's Rolando Amorebieta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Štefan Semeno made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomáš Požgaj in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacinto Cuadrado saved Boca Juniors from getting behind. After 26 minutes AFK Petržalka's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Hitzeder Manrique who took care of the corner kick. Richard Zedník hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. A collision led to AFK Petržalka getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Viktor Srnka hit a great ball. 37 minutes into the game, Tomáš Požgaj cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Jacinto Cuadrado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Štefan Semeno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arkadiusz Banaszak, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Tomáš Požgaj struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Jacinto Cuadrado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AFK Petržalka. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 58th minute Boca Juniors were awarded a corner. Hitzeder Manrique went to the cornerflag to take it. Štefan Semeno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hitzeder Manrique in the 62nd minute of the match. 65 minutes into the match, AFK Petržalka's Tomáš Požgaj sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacinto Cuadrado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 68 minutes into the match, AFK Petržalka's goal looked a bit too open when Rolando Amorebieta came free, but Štefan Semeno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jacinto Cuadrado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomáš Požgaj in the 71st minute of the match. In the 73rd minute, Igor Bališ fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Štefan Semeno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arkadiusz Banaszak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jacinto Cuadrado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomáš Požgaj in the 79th minute of play. A collision led to Boca Juniors getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Arkadiusz Banaszak hit a great ball. Boca Juniors made a substitution. Diego Napier replaced Gabriel Martinelli. AFK Petržalka's Michal Hudák was substituted for Tomáš Požgaj. Arkadiusz Banaszak kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rolando Amorebieta in the 88th minute of play forced AFK Petržalka's goalkeeper Štefan Semeno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 89 played minutes AFK Petržalka got a freekick which was hit by Michal Hudák. After 90 played minutes, Boca Juniors's Olaf Varela shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Štefan Semeno came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Boca Juniors reached it. The throw-in from Lazaro Marin in the 92nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by AFK Petržalka's Viktor Seno. 93 minutes into the game, Michal Hudák cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Jacinto Cuadrado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Igor Bališ sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. AFK Petržalka walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
