The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The throw-in from Leif Svanström in the 3rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by KS Olimpia Warszawa's Leon Mleczewski. Gigel Botescu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sten Melberg in the 10th minute. After 11 played minutes Di Röe got a freekick which was hit by Bengt-Rune Berg. In the 12th minute, Damazy Joks made a precise shot to the right of George Kristiansson. Di Röe's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Sten Melberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gigel Botescu having to make a save. George Kristiansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Piotr Kawa in the 45th minute of play. 48 minutes into the match, Di Röe's goal looked a bit too open when Damazy Joks came free, but George Kristiansson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half KS Olimpia Warszawa were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

51 minutes into the game, Leon Mleczewski threw the ball into play from the sideline. Di Röe's Herman Benett quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After 56 played minutes Di Röe got a freekick which was hit by Leif Svanström. After 61 played minutes Di Röe got a freekick which was hit by Herman Benett. Di Röe's Arnaldo da Fonseca was substituted for Sten Melberg. Di Röe's Gerard Tan was substituted for Bengt-Rune Berg. In the 62nd minute, Herman Benett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. KS Olimpia Warszawa's Gigel Botescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerard Tan in the 69th minute of play. After 76 minutes KS Olimpia Warszawa's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Herman Benett who took care of the corner kick. 77 minutes in the game Leif Svanström did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Bedih Rafet. The audience was convinced that Damazy Joks's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but George Kristiansson was relentless in the 79th minute of the game.
