Maximo Horquizar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Isaias Jakue's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Sporting Buceo were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Yao Yan Sen took the corner. In the 26thth minute of the game Isaias Jakue who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaias Jakue in the 46th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Sporting Buceo's Isaias Jakue in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A nice corner shot did that Yao Yan Sen got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Sporting Buceo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maureen Franco didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 89 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Charly Good came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charly Good in the 91st minute of play. In the 92ndth minute of the game Xinto Carreiras who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xinto Carreiras in the 94th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 95th minute of the match Sporting Buceo got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Xinto Carreiras ran over to the corner to take the kick. Sporting Buceo succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
