After a defensive mix-up in Grimório's zone, Mariano Lacasa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wawrzyniec Niedziela came out of the goal and Mariano Lacasa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 44 minutes into the match, Grimório's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Wawrzyniec Niedziela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Orlando Casaus scored 0-1 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wawrzyniec Niedziela, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Chile were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wawrzyniec Niedziela having to make a save. With a little luck, Grimório's Wawrzyniec Niedziela got control of the ball when Mariano Lacasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Chile walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
