A collision led to Grimório getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Kajar Püss hit a great ball. Kajar Püss might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kajar Püss ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 21st minute, Felix Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luis Andino during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Wawrzyniec Niedziela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 60th minute of the match. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Grimório made a substitution. Joel Lüüs replaced Renaud Van de Put. Kajar Püss scored 1-1 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Grimório was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alo Ülipikk didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 74thth minute, Wawrzyniec Niedziela skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Grimório had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
