Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Ale Nesta made a throw-in in the 23rd minute of the game. 31 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund MZB's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Angelo Peruzzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Peru's Rafael Gallo in the 92nd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Angelo Peruzzi was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Borussia Dortmund MZB through an amazing save. When the referee blew the final whistle, Borussia Dortmund MZB could leave the field as winners, despite Peru having more of the ball for most of the match.
