Jaime Velloso made in the 5th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Harold Tronconi immediately put the ball in play. After 9 minutes, Eduardo Elia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Deportes Santa Cruz and the Grêmio RK75 players grew even worse after the yellow card. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 28 minutes into the match, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's goal looked a bit too open when Harold Tronconi came free, but Ilkka Markkula reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ilkka Markkula showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kaká Brasil in the 33rd minute of the match. 34 minutes into the match, Grêmio RK75's goal looked a bit too open when Hüseyin Rahmi Toper came free, but João Francisco Tinoco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Grêmio RK75's Harold Tronconi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ilkka Markkula narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 39th minute of the game. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Harold Tronconi made the kick off in the second half. João Francisco Tinoco came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Podador Raheiro. But to his dismay, Podador Raheiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. João Francisco Tinoco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Podador Raheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Club Deportes Santa Cruz made a substitution.
