In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jagiellonia Denver's goalkeeper Eric Gary, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 12th minute, Abraham Alguacil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 15 minutes, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Berganza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tomas Berganza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Eric Gary tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 20 minutes into the game, Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eric Gary made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Viorel Olaru kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, Dylan Sarmiento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Panama's Marcos Cotilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Panama from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Panama's Marcos Cotilla got control of the ball when Hélio Donatello tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcos Cotilla made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Per-Olof Åkesson sent off a good shot on target. The referee showed Stanford Whitten the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 57 played minutes Jagiellonia Denver got a freekick which was hit by Stanford Whitten. The supporters of Jagiellonia Denver booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dylan Sarmiento didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cacá Čačak in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcos Cotilla saved Panama from getting behind. Marcos Cotilla stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cacá Čačak's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Jagiellonia Denver's Eric Gary proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Jagiellonia Denver from getting a goal against them. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardo Gareca, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Jagiellonia Denver's Özalp Durkaya was substituted for Florence Diaz.
