Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grabiel Escorcia in the 6th minute of play. Camilo Candido made in the 11th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Peru's Alonso Berganza. In the 14th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristiano Aveiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 16 minutes, Julian Murillo made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Nacional's Cristiano Aveiro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Alonso Berganza hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Cristiano Aveiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Mina in the 26th minute of play. Nacional's Cristiano Aveiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Mina in the 28th minute of play. Eliseo Mina scored 0-2 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cristiano Aveiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Grabiel Escorcia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Nacional got a freekick which was hit by Joseph Gayoso. 55 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cristiano Aveiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Grabiel Escorcia blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolando Noboa having to make a save. Cristiano Aveiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julian Murillo in the 71st minute. Julian Murillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Cristiano Aveiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Peru's Joaquin Prats managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Camilo Candido in the 89 minute of the game. With an all-out effort, Peru's Cristiano Aveiro threw himself towards the right post 91 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rafael Gallo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ekain Menendez's late challenge caught a Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ekain Menendez helped the player get up and apologised.
