After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Di Yuan Liang stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Di Yuan Liang tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 16th minute of the match, Sebastian Zieba got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jonathan Ferrant was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Di Yuan Liang sent off a good shot on target. In the 18th minute Pombal 2003 F.C. were awarded a corner. Onur Candar went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Pombal 2003 F.C.'s corner Sebastian Zieba fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jonathan Ferrant quite easily take care of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Martxel Palmer during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 20 played minutes Pombal 2003 F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Martxel Palmer. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 32nd minute of the match, Di Yuan Liang tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jonathan Ferrant saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Pombal 2003 F.C.'s Luiz Fabiano de Lima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th minute, Tomas Illescas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Di Yuan Liang in the 54th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Pombal 2003 F.C.'s Michel Toscano got a free kick in the 56th minute. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Venezuela's Tomas Illescas came free and shot a quick shot against goal 71 minutes in the game, fortunately Luiz Fabiano de Lima had problems saving as it came toward the left post. 72 minutes in the game, Tomas Illescas dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Di Yuan Liang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Di Yuan Liang in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 84 minutes into the game, Di Yuan Liang cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Luiz Fabiano de Lima tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
