Merlin Dolan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Washington Bezerra in the 3rd minute of the match. Washington Bezerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Merlin Dolan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Washington Bezerra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Merlin Dolan made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tuan Glover during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tuan Glover kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Zamalek FC's Merlin Dolan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Zamalek FC from getting a goal against them. When Washington Bezerra came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the América-SC F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Washington Bezerra couldn't finish the play. América-SC F.C.'s Luís Henrique got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 15 minutes, Merlin Dolan successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Merlin Dolan came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by América-SC F.C.'s Luís Henrique. But to his dismay, Luís Henrique quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Luís Henrique succeeded in the game's 18th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0. 23 minutes into the game, Luís Henrique lined in a short shot 3-0 behind a frustrated Merlin Dolan. Fellipe Travassos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Merlin Dolan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute Luís Henrique shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Merlin Dolan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Junior Smart hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Zamalek FC's Merlin Dolan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Zamalek FC from getting a goal against them. In the 36th minute, América-SC F.C.'s Luís Henrique dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-0. Luiz Pitta succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 5-0 in the 38th playminute. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Luís Henrique took a quick shot and it went in 6-0 without a chance for Merlin Dolan to make any attempt to save it. In the 44th match minute, Zamalek FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Santo Knox to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Malcolm Neal made the kick off in the second half. Zamalek FC's Merlin Dolan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonel Guedes in the 51st minute of play. Merlin Dolan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Washington Bezerra in the 54th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, América-SC F.C.'s Luís Henrique sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Merlin Dolan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 60 minutes into the match, Zamalek FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Henrique came free, but Merlin Dolan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Merlin Dolan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Henrique in the 61st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Henrique in the 63rd minute of play forced Zamalek FC's goalkeeper Merlin Dolan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Luiz Pitta came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the América-SC F.C. fans jumped to their feet. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Luís Henrique managed to get in a good position for a shot. América-SC F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Henrique was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Merlin Dolan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 76th minute Leonel Guedes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Merlin Dolan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Will Holt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of América-SC F.C. booed when Zamalek FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Will Holt didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Zamalek FC's zone, Luís Henrique stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Merlin Dolan came out of the goal and Luís Henrique tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Washington Bezerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Merlin Dolan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Merlin Dolan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Washington Bezerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Will Holt in the 90th minute of play forced América-SC F.C.'s goalkeeper Gaston Roderigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 94 minutes into the game, Fellipe Travassos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Merlin Dolan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There was no doubt that América-SC F.C. were the better team. América-SC F.C.'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
