Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Palermo, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. After having played for 11 minutes, Martin Palermo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. La Candela FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin Palermo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rubén-Darío Feldmann could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruben Sánchez having to interfere. In the 21st minute, Patricio Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Martin Palermo succeeded in the game's 22nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martin Palermo went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. La Candela FC's Ruben Sánchez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 30th minute of play. The supporters of La Candela FC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salvador Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Martin Palermo struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for La Candela FC. The supporters of La Candela FC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. La Candela FC's Martin Palermo got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Martin Palermo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Martin Palermo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Rubén-Darío Feldmann took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. 55 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Rubén-Darío Feldmann came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Martin Palermo scored 6-0 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Palermo in the 62nd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 64th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. 66 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Rubén-Darío Feldmann came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of La Candela FC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. La Candela FC's Gabi Batistuta was substituted for Martin Palermo. In the 70th minute, Gabi Batistuta ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-0. Rubén-Darío Feldmann recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 76th play minutes Gabi Batistuta shot 8-0, a short shot which went by Jonathan Ferrant and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 79th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubén-Darío Feldmann in the 80th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas got a free kick in the 81st minute. In the 84th minute Gabi Batistuta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, Patricio Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gabi Batistuta took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 10-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. La Candela FC fully deserved thier win.
