Paulo Laurentzi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marco Recio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. After 17 played minutes SuperBarça got a freekick which was hit by Benedicto Gerazan. 24 minutes into the match, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Paulo Laurentzi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marco Recio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Marco Recio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bieito Villaurreta in the 33rd minute. In the 40th minute Criciúma Esporte Clube were awarded a corner. Paulo Laurentzi went to the cornerflag to take it. When the match clock showed 42 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Paulo Laurentzi sped through SuperBarça's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marco Recio. After 46 played minutes Criciúma Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Vasile Curagãu. Paredes Termiñoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evelio Antoniano having to interfere. SuperBarça's Manuel Uquillas was substituted for Paredes Termiñoso.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bieito Villaurreta was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Paulo Laurentzi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Criciúma Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. After a rather tough play, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Gaztea Regalado got a free kick in the 57th minute. Evelio Antoniano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Uquillas in the 83rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Laurentzi in the 85th minute of play forced SuperBarça's goalkeeper Marco Recio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Criciúma Esporte Clube's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
